We even have more assets by the original artists available than DIB included. We want however to keep the good parts about the game including the freely available original monster art, sfx and music. It will not be an exact remake for obvious reasons. We will own all rights on the new game and IP. We want to continue working on an unaffiliated commercial game in the spirit of the original. They are not oblidged to anything and owe us no explanation and no help.
Obviously the IP is not in use currently, and allowing a non commercial fan release wouldn't hurt anyone. After getting a positive reaction initially we later only received an answer "we are unable to help you move forward unfortunately" and that multiple parties are involved.
Unfortunately we were not able to secure permission or a cooperation with the Dragon Island Blue developers ZigZa games.
